Grants Fundraising Officer (job share)

Hope and Homes for Children is looking for a Funding Coordination Officer (this is the job title used internally for this role), who'll play a key supportive role in the Grants Partnerships team and Marketing, Communications and Fundraising (MCF) department, contributing directly to the Grants team income target as well as supporting fundraisers across the department to access compelling information in support of their fundraising.

Fundraising

• Support the setting of the charity’s fundraising targets through the research and review of both external and internal fundraising activities.
• Maintain an up-to-date database of the charity’s fundraising activities and campaigns.
• Collate the agreed metrics (including income and expenditure) and report on a weekly basis.
• Participate fully in the generation of fundraising ideas and activity selection.

Key Responsibilities:

● Leadership and Strategy: Lead and manage a team of community organisers working in partnership with organisations across multiple locations in the UK. Develop and implement a comprehensive community organising strategy aligned with the project's goals.

● Community Engagement: Coach and support community organisers in building relationships and mobilising impacted communities, particularly those from Black and minority ethnic backgrounds, single-parent families, and households with disabled members.

Job Purpose and Summary

• To provide strategic financial leadership through strategic planning and robust reporting to ensure financial sustainability and facilitate growth of the organisation in order to maximise impact, in line with charitable objectives.
• To act as company secretary and provide oversight of IT.

Location Remote, with minimum one day per week in office with team (location flexible)

Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities

Responsible for:

• Financial oversight and leadership.
• Providing robust financial information to inform and improve operational management and decision making to further the charities’ objectives.
• Ensuring financial sustainability of the charity and facilitate growth and development to further charitable aims.
• Ensuring appropriate financial probity and controls in place.
• Financial planning including budgeting and forecasting.
• Financial reporting including monthly management accounts so that Directors and Trustees understand the financial health of the organisation.
• Financial compliance including with HMRC and Charity Commission.
• Facilitating Finance Sub Committee of the board, in coordination with Treasurer.
• Support Chair of Finance Sub Committee in providing assurance to the Trustees in relation to financial strategy, performance and financial sustainability.
• Effectively management of financial risks as part of organisational approach to risk management.
• Appraising the financial viability of plans, proposals, and feasibility studies.
• Monitoring and reporting on the financial health of the organisation.
• Oversight of and being responsible for the preparation and submission of all statutory financial accounts and returns.
• Ensuring effective Payroll function and Pension scheme.
• Effective procurement procedures to ensure services are best value for money.
• Ensuring effective financial audit.
• Maintaining positive and healthy cash position.
• Leading, with support from CEO, on commercial decisions including pricing.
• Identifying efficiencies to ensure the lean operation of the organisation.
• Timely completion of all Statutory returns.

Business:

• Act as Company Secretary supporting trustees to ensure all legal and statutory compliance with Charitable Articles and Charity Commission requirements.
• Oversight and continuous improvement of IT (and data) systems (with support from out-sourced IT support) to ensure efficient and effective workflow across the organisation.
• As business manager, lead on risk management and KPI dashboard reporting to trustees and Finance Sub Committee.

Person Specification

Qualifications

• Qualified accountant (CCAB/CIMA/ACCA) (essential)

Experience

• At least 5 years’ experience as an accountant (essential)
• At least 3 years’ senior leadership experience (essential)
• At least 3 years’ experience managing a staff team (essential)
• At least 3 years’ experience in registered charity OR health and social care (essential)
• At least 2 years’ experience of working at Board level (desirable)
• Significant experience of both accounting and financial management environment.

The Opportunity

We’re looking for a Community manager who has a passion for leading and supporting engagement and collaboration on a Global scale to help us achieve real impact by being the main point of contact for approximately 4,300 users of our Online platform Circle and supporting c.2000 International fellows outside of the US and Oceania.

This is a remote role due to the required working hours, we are open to London or UK based applicants. The hours of work for this role will be from 1pm to 9pm.

• The ability to lead on developing and improving online and offline strategies, keeping abreast of community trends and adhering to best practice standards.
• An experienced community builder, who can work collaboratively with other teams, taking charge of strategising, organising, and implementing the engagement calendar to ensure a consistent and engaging user experience.
• A passion for offering volunteers guidance and coaching to help them organise within their geographic communities or communities of interest.
• An experienced moderator, who can work in accordance with online moderation objectives and guidelines.

Hybrid - Home/Local Salvation Army Office – West Malling, Kent M19 4YU

We have an exciting opportunity to join our thriving and committed Community and Membership Fundraising team. This is a new role, which is responsible for supporting and equipping Salvation Army churches and centres across the UK to fundraise in their local community to support the mission of The Salvation Army. As the role will be part of a pilot, you will have the opportunity to develop new ways of working, use your creativity to implement new ideas, and will be able to influence how we support local fundraising in the future.

The Salvation Army has 620 churches and community centres, which work at the heart of communities, serving the most vulnerable people, across the UK and Republic of Ireland. Alongside the locally driven operations, The Salvation Army operates centrally co-ordinated and managed social services, including residential programmes for homeless people, residential detox centres, and refuges for victims of domestic violence, and safe houses and services for the victims and survivors of modern-day slavery and human trafficking. You will play a key role in equipping and supporting Salvation Army churches to fundraise to support some of the most excluded people and communities in the UK.

We are looking for someone who is experienced in church-based and community fundraising, has strengths in inspiring others to act, is able to generate and implement new ideas, and is able to work independently using their own initiative.

This is a permanent position based partly at home and partly at your local Salvation Army office. You will be expected to travel within the South East to local Salvation Army sites throughout the week.

REMAP is a unique national charity. It brings together two groups of people: volunteers skilled at making things and disabled people who need specialist equipment. Each year, around 3,000 pieces of custom-made equipment help transform the lives of disabled people.

The Role

The Operations Manager's role is critical to the charity's long-term sustainability and is pivotal in ensuring that we remain relevant and necessary.

This is an internally focused role in our service delivery, covering clients' and volunteers' journeys. You will be part of the management team, ensuring the smooth and efficient delivery of our central team's support to our network of branches.

We seek someone passionate about providing a quality service to everyone and who is not afraid to drive change and improvement. Experience in being part of a team delivering a change programme that involves volunteers is essential. You must demonstrate that you are a resilient, strong team player with an eye for detail and excellent people skills. You will thrive in a busy environment and have a positive ‘can do’ attitude.

As a small charity, the role will require balancing practical tasks with strategic planning and management. Building on what has already been done, you will work directly with the CEO and the Strategic Programme & Change Manager to help develop REMAP's operational structure and support its day-to-day operations.

We want you to bring relevant experience, passion, dedication, creativity, and flair to our work.

To be considered for this role, you will have demonstrable experience in a similar position and be comfortable working with a diverse range of volunteers/people. As a self-starter, you can work at pace and quickly assess and deliver to changing priorities in a busy remote team. You will have excellent interpersonal skills, be able to coordinate multiple tasks/activities and have the flexibility to respond to changing demands.

You will be proactive, enthusiastic, and excited about joining an organisation with ambitious plans to future-proof its services and reach more disabled people. Experience working in a remote environment is highly desirable.

Terms & Conditions

Place of work: Fully remote, with occasional 2/3 nights away for year-round events.

Working Hours: 37 hrs—a minimum of core hours from 10 am to 3 pm Monday through Friday must be met.

Salary: £35,000 – 40,000, dependent on experience

Holiday entitlement: Begins at 25 days per annum, in addition to public holidays.
