About us

Who we are

It starts with community

Social connections and community activities are at the heart of creating healthier, happier lives and a flourishing society. That’s why The National Lottery Community Fund supports amazing community-led projects. And why we’re looking to make a bigger difference in the years ahead, by listening and responding to communities and by focusing on supporting bolder change.

Thanks to National Lottery players, we plan to distribute at least £4 billion of funding by 2030. Supporting projects that will create resilient communities that are more inclusive and environmentally sustainable. Projects that will strengthen society and improve lives across the UK.

The journey to 2030

Our ambition

The ambition through this strategy is to create resilient communities that are more inclusive and environmentally sustainable, funding activities and organisations that strengthen society and improve lives across the UK.

We’re focusing our efforts where there is greatest need. We’re looking to make a bigger difference in the years ahead, both by listening and responding to communities, and being more focused on supporting the greatest impact.

It starts with community.

Equality, diversity and inclusion policy

Equity, Diversity and Inclusion

At the National Lottery Community Fund, we want all communities to be empowered to thrive. As the UK’s largest community funder, we have a responsibility to ensure that National Lottery funding is accessible by everyone, no matter what their background or experience.

We apply the principles of Equity, Diversity and Inclusion in our grant-making, and across the communities we work with, aiming to reduce unnecessary barriers at all stages.

To be a credible and effective funder, our organisation needs to be representative of our communities, customers and UK society today. Additionally, we value the business benefits of hiring talented people from a diverse range of backgrounds.

We are committed to being a fair, equitable and inclusive place to work, where all colleagues feel a sense of connection and belonging. Our workplace policies and processes are people-focussed, and we offer flexible working practices, plus a range of first-class benefits.

The National Lottery Community Fund is a signatory of the Business in the Community ‘Race at Work Charter’, and we are taking practical steps to ensure we are tackling barriers in recruitment for applicants from ethnic minority backgrounds. If you are from an ethnic minority background, we positively welcome your application.

The National Lottery Community Fund is proud to be a Disability Confident Employer of people with disabilities or longstanding physical or mental health conditions, and we are proactive in making reasonable adjustments where needed during the recruitment process. We guarantee to offer an interview to disabled candidates who meet all of the essential criteria for a role. Please complete the disability questions on the application form to let us know about any adjustment you need, (for example, more time for a task, transport, accessible equipment). If you need us to provide an adjustment or alternative to the online application form, please contact the People Team, on 0121 345 8884 or email [email protected], and we will be happy to help. If you have a disability or a longstanding health condition, we positively welcome your application.

We are members of Stonewall’s Diversity Champion scheme and aim to be a great place to work for lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and non-binary (LGBT+) staff. If you are LGBT+, we positively welcome your application.

We have recently signed up to the Centre for Ageing Better’s ‘Age-Friendly Employer Pledge’ because we recognise the importance and value of older workers as part of a multi-generational workforce. If you are in your 50s or 60s, we positively welcome your application.

In addition, we have well-established staff networks to support our colleagues, as well as an active EDI Colleague Forum for discussing issues around Equity, Diversity and Inclusion.
