We're offering you the opportunity to become the Director of Education of the British Institute of Radiology (BIR), an international membership organisation for everyone working in imaging, radiation oncology and the underlying sciences.

As Director of Education, you'll play a pivotal role in shaping the educational direction of the BIR. It's a leadership position which involves overseeing the development of new initiatives, programmes and strategies to enhance the BIR’s educational offerings and outcomes, and the post-holder will be responsible for the strategic focus and financial performance of the BIR Education programme.

We're half way through our new five-year strategy, and the education team plays a key role in helping to ensure the BIR remains financially sustainable, offering education to more people, and helping expand the membership. The role has also recently been recently expanded to include leadership for two important new roles in Communications and Partnerships, and both positions will be responsible for leading and delivering their respective strategies as part of the wider strategy.

Our new Director of Education will be experienced in developing and implementing successful education strategies at senior level, which will include new business development, income generation or building revenue streams, as well as experience of creating, managing and reporting on budgets.

You'll have had experience of educational events as well as the development of online educational activities, such as virtual events, webpages or apps, and you'll be adept at managing projects and working with stakeholders to achieve outcomes. Finally, you'll also be an experienced line manager, capable of supporting, nurturing and bringing out the best in your teams.

Although we offer flexible working, it is envisaged that the successful candidate is able to work from our London office at least 2 days per week, between Monday to Wednesday. National and occasional international travel might also be required.

The Marylebone Project is one of the largest women’s hostels in the UK for women affected by homelessness. Those we support are often affected by substance misuse, unemployment, domestic violence, and mental health issues. The Role:

This is a fantastic opportunity within the Project, delivering meaningful activity and EET opportunities for women, giving lots of scope for creativity and development. Within this role you will be required to provide exemplary support to the women we serve, supporting them in their journey to recovery.  This role plays an integral part in developing life and employability skills and providing opportunities for involvement and ultimately job procurement. This role works with all departments of the Marylebone Project, and will develop exciting new relationships with external partners, and creating work and training related opportunities for women. The post sits within our Centre Team.

Salary

£31,927 per annum

Hours

40 hours per week. You will be placed on a shift-based Rota which includes early shifts, Late shifts and weekend shifts. In general the hours of working will be from 8am-4.30pm.
Working hours and rotas are subject to change by the organisation as required, based on operational/service need, though we try not to do this frequently. Some flexibility in working hours is expected.

Pension

The employee will be enrolled into a pension scheme providing the post holder meets the criteria for eligibility. Minimum pension contributions will be paid by the employer for you if you are eligible.

Annual Leave

28 days per year, inclusive of bank holidays. Rising by 1 day per year of service to a maximum of 33 days, inclusive of bank holidays.

Occupational Requirement

Due to the responsibilities of the role, there is an occupational requirement under the Equality Act 2010 that the post holder is female.

The Marylebone Project is based over two sites, 100m apart, up to 7 floors, and the job regularly involves walking throughout and between both sites. The postholder must be able to access all areas of the Project, and may be required to do so quickly in the event of an emergency. There is also a requirement to travel across London for work related purposes. The ability to undertake these physical aspects of the role and to carry smaller items are required as essential.

Development Director

Main Purpose and Scope of the Role

The Development Director will be a key part of the Action4Youth Senior Management Team, contributing to strategic development of the whole organisation and taking responsibility for the leadership and management of all aspects of business development, sales, fundraising, marketing and communications.

The Development Director will ensure development to support the Strategic and Operational Plans in order to achieve growth, sustainability and stability and to support the Action4Youth core offer i.e.  programme delivery and outdoor education.

Because Action4Youth is a relatively small organisation, teams are small and this means that even senior members of the team like Directors may have to cover for a team member when on leave or generally help out as necessary to achieve targets. In this particular role, that could mean undertaking basic tasks like completing a funding bid to meet a deadline, updating a webpage, writing blog posts or handling sales calls. This job is unusual in genuinely being both strategic and hands on.

Networking is an important part of this role so the post holder will often be expected to attend out of hours events to represent Action4Youth and to develop valuable relationships and connections.

Leadership

In this role you will be: 

• Identifying, developing and maintaining effective partnerships with local communities, volunteers and key partners across the region to engage them in the prevention of young suicide. 

• Proactively promoting suicide prevention including raising the profile of PAPYRUS and engaging with those personally affected by young suicide. 

• Equipping a wide range of stakeholders to enable them to create sustainable suicide safer communities through the provision of tailored support, training and education.

Haringey Education Partnership (HEP) is a not-for-profit, schools-led school improvement company with a mission to raise outcomes for children in all our 120 member schools in Haringey and Enfield.

HEP is becoming a Delivery Partner for University College London (UCL) and we now seek a project manager to support the effective development and delivery of the Early Career Framework (ECF) programme to teachers at the start of their careers and the National Professional Qualifications (NPQ) programmes to aspiring and existing middle and senior leaders in education, in association with UCL. This offer will be a key component of HEP’s comprehensive programme for teacher and leadership development.

The role will also support the Appropriate Body role that HEP will play and will be the effective interface between schools, HEP and UCL.

Initially, the post-holder will take responsibility for fundraising for our ongoing expansion project. A key part of the role is building relationships with friends of the school, cultivating high-net-worth individuals and corporate partnerships as well as applying to trusts and foundations. The Development Manager will be responsible for seeing the process through from application to conclusion. As the role develops, there will be the opportunity to actively grow the fundraising and development function looking at regular and legacy giving from across the school’s supporters. 

Main purpose of the role:

Working with the Governors and Senior Management Team (SMT), building relationships with friends of the school and creating new links with high-net worth individuals. Keeping a relevant database of prospects, donors and links including communications, pledges and actual donations.

To research, prepare and submit well written applications based on information provided by the Governors and SMT with bids of four, five and six figures to trusts, foundations and statutory bodies. Tracking and coordinating applications.

To identify, cultivate and secure corporate philanthropic partnerships.

Create and run suitable fundraising events for the Unicorn School’s expansion project.

Reporting to stakeholders regarding fundraising progress for the expansion project. 

Person Specification:

At least five years’ experience in fundraising would be preferred.

Work to the highest professional ethical standard as set out by The Chartered Institute of Fundraising or other, relevant professional body.

A proven track record of drafting meaningful, successful proposals to trusts and foundations and other relevant bodies be they corporate or individuals.

Evidence of an aptitude to work with senior, highly influential and well-connected supporters, donors and canvassers.

An expert understanding of the core principles of trust and foundation fundraising, with a focus on building long-term and sustained senior relationships with grant makers.

A proven track record in identifying, cultivating and soliciting significant donations from high-net-worth individuals.

A proven track record in establishing valuable corporate partnerships.
