As a member of the Board of Trustees and as its honorary treasurer, you will ensure the charity is carrying out its purposes for the public benefit and in compliance with its governing document and the law; monitor the financial administration of the charity and authorise key payments; and chair the board’s Governance, Risk and Audit Committee.

From our foundation in 1860, though to the present day, RABI has been supporting farming people throughout England and Wales for generations.  RABI continue to apply the guiding principles of our Royal Charter, to provide support to those who are, or have been employed in the farming sector. The 2019 strategy articulates four key strategic aims for the charity:

· Understanding how life’s challenges affect those who farm and use this knowledge to develop and deliver flexible and accessible support to reach more people.

· Continue to increase awareness of our work and support programmes within the farming community.

· Strengthen existing relationships and develop new ways to engage with our supporters.

· Manage our charity as effectively and efficiently as possible.

Four years into our ambitious strategy we are looking to appoint three new Trustees to join the Council of Trustees:

1.Investment (advisory/portfolio);

2. Experience of national charities as a trustee;

3. Land management/estates.

Working closely with key stakeholders, we continue to develop a targeted approach to the provision of future services to tackle the complex issues facing the sector and increase farmer resilience for years to come. Our ambition was to quadruple the number of farming people the charity is able to support by 2024, which we have succeeded in doing; we will continue to extend our services in line with our 2025 strategy goals and aims, which will see us deliver holistic, flexible services that promote early intervention and increased farmer wellbeing.

A key ambition for the charity and our sector partners is to reduce the stigma associated with accessing support, develop wider stakeholder engagement, build an evidence library to improve and prioritise support, as well as introduce a social impact framework and partnership programme that focuses on pre-emptive services. These developments are being implemented to ensure that RABI will continue to provide vital support to our community now and long into the future.

RABI is focussed on empowering the worth and wellbeing of our farming people.  Over the coming year, RABI is launching a series of events to act as a crucial first step to support collective actions that can bring about positive changes.  Together we have an opportunity to sow the seeds of support and growth that can contribute to a more resilient farming community.

The Royal Society for Asian Affairs (RSAA) is seeking to recruit three new trustees to support it at an important point in its development, approaching its 125th anniversary in 2026.

The BGF Foundation is looking for up to three new trustees to support our ambitious grant-making plans.

Our purpose is to support young people throughout the UK. Launched in 2022, the BGF Foundation is an independent charitable foundation. It is supported by cornerstone funding from BGF, an investment company that provides growth capital for small and mid-sized businesses in the UK and Ireland.

We harness the financial resources, leadership and expertise of BGF, its portfolio companies and talent network – collectively one of the UK’s largest and most active entrepreneurial networks. The Foundation has ambassadors in every region who work with us to identify local charities, coordinate pro bono support and build long-term partnerships with them.

To date we have provided multi-year grants to growing charities that support young people: MyBnk, Leadership Through Sport and Business and Social Enterprise Academy. We have also supported a number of charities with smaller individual grants.

We have undergone a strategic review and our focus will now be on open funding rounds for ambitious youth charities who are ready to scale their impact. We focus on areas where our funding, skills, networks and knowledge can make the most impact. These are enterprise, education, employment, mental health and physical wellbeing.

This is a pivotal time for the Foundation, and key to our future success will be up to three new trustees that can broaden our diversity and add to the skills and perspectives of the Board to support this new strategic approach.

We are especially interested in those with expertise in the charity sector (grant-making, strategy and governance), supporting growing charities, or working with young people.

Kiplin Hall and Gardens in North Yorkshire is recruiting Trustees to join the friendly and dedicated Board which oversees the management of this intriguing Jacobean house.  The house was built in the 1620s for George Calvert, Secretary of State to James I and founder of the US state of Maryland. A member of the Historic Houses Association, the Hall and Gardens are open to visitors and we welcome over 30,000 visitors each year. We are currently creating a new Welcome Centre with improved retail and catering for our visitors which will open in Spring 2025. . With the support of National Lottery Heritage Fund, we are further enhancing the service and experience offered to visitors, to ensure Kiplin is sustainable and resilient for the future.

We are particularly seeking Trustees with skills and experience in finance, visitor operations, legal and curatorial to help oversee the continued development of the Hall and Gardens.  We are looking to grow our Board of Trustees to help guide us through an exciting period of change and transition.

Summary of the Role: As a Trustee, you'll be responsible for setting strategic aims, objectives, and direction. You'll ensure YSS achieves its objectives, represents stakeholders' interests, and act as an ambassador for the charity.

Structure, Governance, and Management: YSS is governed by its Memorandum and Articles of Association. The Board delegates responsibility for day-to-day management to the Managing Director, aided by the Senior Management and Leadership Team.

Strategy: YSS has a broad 3-year strategy linked to our organizational Theory of Change. Bi-annual strategic reviews are undertaken by the Trustees and Senior Management Team.

Priorities for 2024-2025:

At Mid Norfolk Mencap we are passionate about supporting people with learning disabilities and their families. Enabling people to live independently, person-centred care is at the heart of what we do.

Our mission is to support and enable the people who use our services to lead fulfilling lives, to be involved in their local wider community, and to have access to the same opportunities as all members of society.

Mid Norfolk Mencap was established since 1977, and every year we provide residential living, social opportunities, and specialised Community Outreach support for more than 100 people with a learning disability in Norfolk. However, with around 16,500 adults in Norfolk with a learning disability, we know we can do so much more.

This is an exciting time for us as we work to grow and strengthen our services. As a trustee you will play a vital role in helping us deliver a stronger and more sustainable organisation for the benefit of our service users, their families, and for the staff who work to deliver those services.

Position: Trustee

Location: Trustee Board meetings and many of our charity’s activities take place in Dereham. In addition, some work may be required remotely using Zoom/ Teams, or in other parts of Norfolk from time to time.

Salary: This position is unpaid but reasonable expenses may be paid.

Responsibilities

This role is suited to candidates who can demonstrate professional or skills-based knowledge of benefit to the charity. We would particularly welcome applications from people with experience in the third sector, PR, fundraising, governance, risk management, management and law, and accountancy.

Training

You will be given a basic induction to the charity and opportunities to meet with the senior management team. We also strongly encourage trustees to spend time participating in our services delivery, getting to know our staff and volunteers – and most importantly, our beneficiaries. We will customise a training and familiarisation package for the successful candidate based on prior knowledge and experience.

Our trustees play a vital role in making sure that The Care Workers’ Charity achieves its core purpose. They oversee the overall management and administration of the charity and ensure that The Care Workers’ Charity has a clear strategy and that our work and goals are in line with our vision. Where they have specific expertise such as fundraising, they work with the CWC team, providing coaching or connections in order for us to raise funds to enable us to support as many care workers as we can. Just as importantly, they support and challenge the executive team to enable us to grow and thrive.

As a small charity, there will be times when the trustees will need to be actively involved beyond Board meetings. This may involve leading discussions, focusing on key issues, providing advice and guidance on new initiatives, presenting externally, representing the Charity, or other issues in which the trustee has special expertise. Our trustees have a key role in risk management, working with the staff team to identify and manage risks.

Our Board meetings are mostly remote with one held face-to-face each year in London and occasionally we ask trustees to represent the Charity at events or award ceremonies, or at stakeholder events which are held close to the trustee's location.

Duties:

• Support and provide advice on The Care Workers’ Charity’s purpose, vision, goals and activities.
• Approve operational strategies and policies, and monitor and evaluate their implementation.
• Oversee The Care Workers’ Charity’s financial plans and budgets and monitor and evaluate progress.
• Ensure the effective and efficient administration of the organisation.
• Ensure that key risks are being identified, monitored and controlled effectively.
• Review and approve The Care Workers’ Charity’s financial statements.
• Provide support and challenge to our CEO in the exercise of their delegated authority and affairs.
• Keep abreast of changes in our operating environment.
• Contribute to regular reviews of The Care Workers’ Charity’s own governance.
• Attend Board meetings (mostly remote and possibly one being face-to-face), adequately prepared to contribute to discussions and respond promptly to requests for required action.
• Use independent judgment, acting legally and in good faith to promote and protect The Care Workers’ Charity’s interests, to the exclusion of their own personal and/or any third party interests.
• Contribute to the broader promotion of The Care Workers’ Charity’s objects, aims and reputation by applying their skills, expertise, knowledge and contacts.

Upmo are an Edinburgh-based charity that provides support and opportunity for adults with learning disabilities and autism across Edinburgh, East Lothian and Midlothian. Upmo was founded in 2006 by Josh Barton and inspired by the belief that services for adults could truly be exciting, dynamic and meaningful.

In 2006, adults with learning disabilities lacked opportunities in higher education and there was a lack of understanding around individual needs. Those who understood the needs of service users operated with limited scope to encourage, inspire and motivate. As a result, many service users were isolated and desperately in need of opportunities to become more socially engaged, active and valued.

The response from Upmo was combining progressive learning within an educational curriculum and the development of support service provision – placing the needs of students at the heart of services. Distinguishing themselves by adopting an unconventional approach, Upmo provides custom-tailored support services alongside a well-regarded curriculum featuring creative workshops, educational activities, and vocational programs. The charity has also expanded its impact through a growing number of social enterprises aimed at creating job opportunities and preparing students for employment.

Upmo are looking for a number of committed and motivated individuals, from any background, to join their Board of Trustees and to help steer Upmo through a time of exciting opportunity and development.

As members of the Board, Trustees have the overall responsibility of running the charity. The current Trustees come from a diverse range of backgrounds, and through their wide-ranging and complimentary skills and life experience, contribute to the strategy and oversight of the charity’s operations. The Board of Trustees meet four times per year, with every second meeting being held in person in Edinburgh. It is important that trustees allocate sufficient time to read Board papers and prepare for Board meetings. However, this is not onerous, and the time commitment should be no more than 2-4 hours per month on average.

Harrow Food Bank is part of the Trussell Trust - a network of over 1300 food bank centres in the UK. Between April 2022 and March 2023, food banks provided almost 3 million food supplies to people in crisis. 

Harrow Food Bank requires two Trustees to support the Chair and current members who can support the existing Trustees:

Administrator / Secretary: to lead on all the administrative duties of the food bank and Trustee Board, ensure all meetings are conducted within the legal requirements and a record of all meetings maintained. Key roles & responsibilities:

1. Arrange and communicate dates for all Trustee Meetings, circulating papers in advance

2. Follow up on the agreed actions from meetings and keep an accurate ‘action log’

3. Ensure all stakeholders are informed of the AGM and that the AGM report is submitted to all relevant bodies

Treasurer: to lead on the financial affairs of the foodbank and to ensure that they are conducted within the required legal accounting and good practice conventions. Key roles & responsibilities:

1. Ensure that the Food Bank has proper systems for budgeting, financial controls, insurance and reporting

2. Produce and present regular finance reports for the Trustees Board Meetings

3. Maintain accurate financial records as report in a timely manner to all relevant bodies
